One key failing of President Obama is that he blew into office in full campaign mode expecting to govern with soundbites and campaign slogans. He and his handlers are mostly from Chicago and are products of Chicago's notoriously corrupt political machine. Obama has no executive experience. He has never run a business, a county, or even a state. He was not prepared to be President and he made the mistake of keeping his camp of Chicago politicos intact once he assumed command.

I get the sense he feels entitled -- that he has bought into all the media hype of his "historic" presidency. Everything he does is "historic". Perhaps, once his reign is shaken out by history, the one truly historic thing he did was win a Nobel Prize without actually having to accomplish anything. They awarded the prize before he earned it.

I think that is what he expects us Americans to do when it comes to his policies. He wants us to put our full trust and faith in him before he proves himself.

Whenever you want to judge future performance of someone you need to look at their track record with similiar programs. A good measure of how the federal government will manage a state-run health care system is to look at how they have managed Medicare. If Obama wants to earn our good graces enough to trust him with the health care for every American he should prove himself by reforming Medicare. All of his claims for paying for this monster of a program he proposes revolve around his promise to cut the waste. Well, if he can cut the waste from something as huge as nationalized health care for everyone, certainly he can cut the waste from a much smaller program of the same type. Can't he? So why doesn't he? Why is he not purging the waste from Medicare? Because he can't. It is impossible to remove corruption from a political being. And what happens to the Average taxpayer when nationalized health care proves to be as corrupt as every other political agency? We fail. And don't think the repubicans can or will sweep in and undo the mess if this plan becomes law. No entitlement program has ever been retracted. It won't happen.

So please, Mr. President, prove yourself. Do something small, anything, to earn our trust before you try to conquer the world.

Very good suggestion. What would convince you that President Obama is capable of leading this country? Name something.

I did name something: He could cut the waste and fraud from Medicare to prove that he is capable of making the kinds of cuts he claims are going to pay for his health care program.

I saw where you said "Why is he not purging the waste from Medicare? Because, he can't. It is impossible to remove corruption from a political being."

So the only way President Obama can prove to you that he's capable of leading this country is to do perform an impossible task. Your words. Not mine.

My point is that he is claiming to do something I think is impossible for a president to do. HE is the one making the claim that this newfangled health care bill will reduce the deficit because HE will cut the waste. I challenge that claim and called for him to prove he can do it by doing it on a smaller scale. If he can't cut the waste from a smaller program then he certainly can't cut it from a large one.

It would be like this: A man tells me he can fly around the house by flapping his arms. I don't believe him and challenge him to prove it by flying a few feet.

No President can do this alone; Obama isn't making that claim. He's stated all along, from his early campaign days until now, that Health Care Reform would take all of us, Democrats and Republicans alike, working together to make this thing work. On this point, President Obama is correct.

Unfortunately, in today's political climate, that's virtually impossible. On this I would agree with you KingRat. That's shameful and what may bring our nation to it's knees economically.

No, I'm sorry, Noe, but Obama and the democrats have put forth an extremely expensive plan to insure all Americans and reduce the national debt. Obama's reason for urgency is two-pronged: Americans are dying for lack of health car, and to stave off certain bankruptcy. His method of paying for this plan while also reducing the national debt is that there will be no waste, abuse or corruption. OBAMA and his gaggle of demothugs are the ones claiming such a system is possible. My challenge is that he prove the federal government can do a 180 and operate ANYTHING that is not rife with waste, abuse, and corruption. So far, Obama has given us TARP II, in which the money did NOT go to "shovel-ready" projects as he promised; Cash-For-Clunkers, which was so corrupt and full of red tape that it cost the taxpayers over $27,000 every time the government wrote one of those $5000 checks; and the project to weatherize homes, which is bogged down in red tape and graft and is a huge moneypit.

His track record is no different than any other President when it comes to federal programs operating at a huge loss to taxpayers. If he can't administer a simple plan to purchase a bunch of used cars without breaking the bank then why in God's name should we trust him with our health care?

I didn't vote for him.

I'm still waiting for him to prove how awesome he is compared to everyone's expectations.

I had very little expectation for his presidency and even I have been disappointed!

Obama is too smart to promise an incorruptable government system. His promise to the American people is to give them a choice; a choice that we do not have at the moment.

I would defy any President to perform in the face of the opposition levied at the Obama administration. I've never seen anything like it in all of my 50+ years. Compare this to Nixon being caught red handed in an illegal scandal; Bush senior being caught red handed trading arms for hostages; and Clinton caught red ____ with his.....well we all know about that.

In less than a year, we forgot what a mess 8 years of runaway government carte blanche to real estate investment bankers, oil companies, and insurance providers left us to deal with. The moment health care reform was mentioned after the election "the government's out to kill your grandma" politics hit the road running. And America swallowed it like a piece of sweet candy. We deserve what we get.

There you go again Noe - putting things in prespective and making sense.

Have you not learned by now that there is a section of the population that does not want Obama to succeed just on the point that he is a democrat. They would rather the whole country go down before they would let the Democrats fix anything. Just look at the Republican filabuster record in the Senate or the block holds on department nominees after a year. They are doing their best to shut the goverment down.

But Obama DID promise a federal health management program free of corruption. Maybe he's not as smart as you thought.

President Obama is the one proposing to reduce the national debt while at the same time insuring virtually every American. HE is the one saying he will pay for it by eliminating waste and abuse. Pretending he isn't making that claim doesn't change the fact that he has and continues to make that claim.
