Voter ID in Mississippi

Voter ID in Mississippi

http://nems360.com/view/full_story/6606 … eft_column

Honestly, I never have understood why in the hell someone would be against showing an ID when they went to vote.  If people truly want fair elections, this is the way to go.

I'm waiting to hear the argument that it dilutes black votes.

Re: Voter ID in Mississippi

I think making it mandatory to show ID before you're able to vote, even register to vote, is the way to go definitely.  You won't get an arguement out of me

Re: Voter ID in Mississippi

I actually heard a guest on SuperTalk this past summer argue that requiring an ID would prevent voters with outstanding warrants from voting.

Democrats say it is racist to require an ID to vote. We all know the real reason -- democrats want to keep voting for the dead and for Buggs Bunny.

I don't know if there are any statistics, but I'll bet the number of people who have warrants aren't exactly getting out to the polls anyway.  And if they are, what's to stop the police from standing around the polling line and checking ID's anyway?

We have the right to vote, the public also demands that those that break the law, serve their punishment.  If you have warrants, tough shit.  Go to jail, pay your fine, then become a contributing member of society again.  There should be a cop at every polling station running Driver's Licenses.

Re: Voter ID in Mississippi

Funny thing.
I stopped by wal mart Friday and asked for a pack of cigs(after 10 mins in line, of course).
The cashier asked for ID and I replied it was in the car. Sale was refused because I looked under 40 and didn't provide ID.

The cashier did her job, I have no beef with her.

I find it damn odd that I'm knocking on 40's door and can't buy cigs without ID ... Yet, everyone can vote without ID.

I promise you, those that have held office the past 20 years have done more harm than all the second hand smoke in the world could possibly cause.

Re: Voter ID in Mississippi

Those in state government in Jackson truly do fit the stereotypical image of Mississippi. When most went to see "Dumb and Dumber" they likely thought it was a movie about Mississippi politicians. They have recently been wasting time on special bills regarding the riding of ATVs and hunting seasons while the state budget was in the toilet..... And we'll likely re-elect most of them next time around.

When the government doesn't give you everything you want all you have to do is call upon the spirit of Stalin.  If every politician was more like Obama we'd all be rich beyond our wildest imaginations and live in mansions.  Damn the wealthy and Plutocrats.  Tax them 9000 percent and buy me a fourth truck.
